What tile size best preserves the fragmented look of Breccia Grey Marble?

The selected material features pale and darker grey angular areas with white and black contrasts. Test several tile outlines against the actual slab. The aim is to retain recognisable grey fragments and boundaries, not to select a nominal size by name.

Can the pale and dark grey fragments be finished to an even surface?

The target is an appropriately flat, well-finished face, while retaining natural differences between the fragments and surrounding stone. Inspect a trial across both, including any disclosed filling. Differences in mineral reflection should be distinguished from tool marks, open cavities and poorly finished repairs.

What needs checking where a narrow cut crosses the pale and dark grey fragments?

Inspect the fragment and its surrounding matrix at the proposed cut, including disclosed repairs. Make a fabricated sample if the detail is important. Decorative fragment boundaries are not automatically damage, but they also do not establish the soundness of a narrow rail, exposed corner or basin surround.
