How do I prevent the large white areas in Grand Antique Marble from overwhelming a wall?

The selected material features a black field strongly contrasted with large white veins and fragments. Set the black-to-white balance across the complete elevation. Mirroring a large white fragment can amplify it far beyond its appearance on a single slab.

Can the large white veins and fragments be finished to an even surface?

The target is an appropriately flat, well-finished face, while retaining natural differences between the fragments and surrounding stone. Inspect a trial across both, including any disclosed filling. Differences in mineral reflection should be distinguished from tool marks, open cavities and poorly finished repairs.

What needs checking where a narrow cut crosses the large white veins and fragments?

Inspect the fragment and its surrounding matrix at the proposed cut, including disclosed repairs. Make a fabricated sample if the detail is important. Decorative fragment boundaries are not automatically damage, but they also do not establish the soundness of a narrow rail, exposed corner or basin surround.

What changes should I expect if Grand Antique Marble is used on a kitchen or bar top?

Acidic spills can leave dull etch marks on the identified carbonate surface, including areas around the large white veins and fragments. The markings do not need to disappear for a change in sheen to become visible. Choose this marble or limestone when that maintenance expectation is acceptable; ordinary penetrating sealing does not prevent acid etching.
